Bast Fibers Highlighted at Go Wipes Conference

Jason Finnis, Bast Fiber Technologies' CTO, summarized the major advantages of natural bast fibers like flax and hemp at the Go Wipes conference, which was originally scheduled to be held in Amsterdam but moved online between December 13 and 14, 2020.

He mentioned that there are increasing demands across the globe to remove plastics from many wipes products. This push comes both from consumers and brands and is supported by regulations including the EU's Single Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) and other similar legislations planned in UK, North America and elsewhere.

"Bast crops are a high biomass annual crop that can alleviate the growing pressure on global forest resources while absorbing carbon, revitalizing soils and preserving biodiversity,"Finnis said.
